- I recently got the same drive. I installed it with HDToolbox (standard
- version).
-
- 1. First select "Change drive type"
- 2. Choose "Define New" (It is SCSI type)
- 3. Then choose "Read Configuration"
- 4. Switch off "Support Reselection"
- 5. Then choose "Ok"
- 6. "Ok" again
- 7. Everything will be saved now
- 8. Then partition the drive (I presume you know how this works)
- 9. At last : "Save Changes To Drive"
-
- Reset and your drive will be recognised by the computer.
- Then format the drive from WorkBench.
-
- Info about the drive :
-
- - It's very quiet
- - When I move the mouse over the menu (right mouse button pressed) I hear the
- drive make a different sound (?). The sound changes. If I scroll through text
- (with the mouse) I hear the same. With every click the sound changes.
- - It's not very fast (only 1.5 Mbytes/second) :-(
- - It starts without problems (No need to reset when you switch on the computer)
- - Formatted size 1033 Mbyte
- - It fits without problems (No need to cut metal)
- - It vibrates (I have put some foam between the drive and shielding of
- the computer, but it still vibrates :-( ).
-
- If anyone knows what the change in sound causes then I would like to know !
- (E-mail to me !)
- Any other experiences with this drive are also welcome !
-
- PS. I didn't use EZ software (I have no PC), so I don't know if it makes any
- difference for speed etc.. EZ software is lost for me as I formatted it right
- away. (EZ-Software can be get from ftp.seagate.com so there's no loss).
-
- I like to hear from you when it works, and how you feel about the drive.
